Abstract

Armaghan Hijaz is a poetry collection of Allama Iqbal's late life. This book is the essence of Iqbal's life and the ideas of Iqbal. So far, numerous explanatory studies have been published regarding the commentary on Iqbal's poetry, and notes and annotations have also been compiled on almost every book of poetry. A sample is found before this on the Rubaiyat included in Armaghan Hijaz (Urdu), but in the case of lack of information, it is required that these corners of Iqbal's thought should be further lit up by compiling complete footnotes and annotations on it. In this paper, Iqbal's thought has been explained by compiling several footnotes and 5 annotations on 13 Rubaiyat included in Armaghan Hijaz (Urdu), which can be useful for the readers. The 5 annotations compiled can be viewed as keywords. These Rubaiyat describe various topics such as destiny, faqr, the role of Iblis in the world, humanity, the narrowness of reason, the intellectual decline of religious classes and modern Muslims and the weakness of character. Although there is very little scope in the Rabi'at to describe any subject completely, nevertheless, each Rabi' in this section comprehensively covers the essential aspects related to the main topic or intellectual point it describes. For example, in the quatrain in which Allama Iqbal has mentioned Iblis, he has also described the importance of creativity. Allama Iqbal gave importance to creation and update in life even if it is caused by Iblis. In the East, the religious classes are suffering from neglect and the modern educated Muslims have also become captive to Western ideas and have become alienated from their original civilization and its values and teachings.
