Abstract

German Idealism is one of the greatest philosophical movements of all times the world over. The comparative study of Iqbal and the German Idealists like Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel and others is of much importance because Iqbal was influenced by these philosophers to some extent. There are some similarities between the various metaphysical, epistemological and axiological conceptions of Iqbal and of the above mentioned German Idealists. However there are so many points of divergence too. This article will try to answer the questions: What is the impact of German Idealism on Iqbal's thought?; What are the similarities and dissimilarities between Iqbal and these German Idealists?
