Abstract

Allama Iqbal's poetry and thought have been the subject of research and criticism by scholars in the East and the West. The West has criticized Allama Iqbal's poetry and thought and philosophy from a specific angle. The analysis of Allama Iqbal's thought and philosophy by Western thinkers cannot be considered completely neutral. If one studies the writings written by Western scholars, philosophers, researchers and Orientalists in this regard, then this point comes to the fore. Among the Western thinkers and Orientalists, Hamilton Gibb is a name whose writings on Allama Iqbal help us understand the mind of the West. Gibb has discussed the well-known philosophical book of Allama Iqbal, the Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam. He has refrained from acknowledging the real greatness of Allama Iqbal there. There can be no other opinion that this book of Allama Iqbal is the foundation of modern Islamic theology. In his writings, Hamilton Gibb compares Allama Iqbal's thought and philosophy to Bergson's illogical philosophy, relies on intuitive experience to prove his position rather than scientific reasoning, and analyzes Allama Iqbal's criticism of Western institutions. In this article, Gibb's ideas have been analyzed which are the manifestation of Gibb's falsities and fallacies regarding Allama Iqbal's thought and philosophy.
