Abstract

Saqi-nama is a sub-genre of Masnavi. Allama Iqbal used this genre in its original technical system and started a tradition by changing its traditional content. Earlier Saqi Nama used to be God-centred, but Allama Iqbal made it human-centered. In other words, Allama Iqbal has described the subjects related to human reality in Saqi Nama. Allama Iqbal has also mentioned the phenomena of nature in Saqi Nama but has given them a new meaning. It seems that in his poetic scenario, the earth has risen from its level and has become heaven. Throughout the poem, Allama Iqbal moves from one major subject to another major subject so skillfully as if the reader moves from one world of meaning to another universal reality without feeling any distance. Each word of Saqi Nama has a universal meaning. In it, we see the inner light of life, the knowledge of reality and the continuous abundance of Divine Love in the universe at every step.
