This research examines Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s predictions and future-oriented insights in relation to contemporary global developments. It argues that Iqbal’s so-called predictions should not be understood merely as mystical forecasts or accidental poetic correspondences; rather, they emerge from his profound understanding of history, politics, civilization, religion, economics, human psychology, and the changing structure of global power. Through his poetry and prose, Iqbal identified several tendencies that have become increasingly visible in the modern world, including Western political domination, economic exploitation, the fragmentation of the Muslim world, the rise of Zionist power in the Middle East, the decline of moral and family values, the expansion of interest-based capitalism, the growing strength of China, and the rapid advancement of science and technology.
The study analyzes the political, civilizational, economic, religious, and scientific dimensions of Iqbal’s foresight. In the political sphere, his warnings concerning imperialism, the weakness of Muslim states, internal divisions, and foreign domination are considered in the context of contemporary wars, regional instability, and the continuing crises in Palestine, Syria, and other Muslim regions. In the civilizational and social domain, the research evaluates Iqbal’s criticism of materialism, moral permissiveness, cultural imitation, and the weakening of spiritual and familial institutions. Economically, it explores his opposition to usury, financial concentration, and exploitative capitalism, while also examining his anticipation of the economic awakening of China. The religious dimension focuses on his call for Muslim unity, revival of selfhood, moral courage, and collective responsibility. The scientific dimension considers his poetic references to technological transformation, medical innovation, artificial reproduction, automation, and the expansion of human knowledge.
The research concludes that the enduring significance of Iqbal’s foresight lies not only in its apparent correspondence with later events but also in its diagnostic and reformative character. Iqbal identified the intellectual, moral, political, and economic causes behind global disorder and proposed selfhood, faith, knowledge, justice, unity, ethical responsibility, and creative action as remedies. His thought therefore remains relevant as a critical framework for understanding contemporary crises and as a source of guidance for the moral, intellectual, and civilizational reconstruction of humanity.
