Abstract

"Payam-e-Mashriq" is a profound collection of philosophical and poetic reflections by Allama Iqbal, aimed at revitalizing the intellectual and spiritual consciousness of the East. Through this work, Iqbal envisions a renewed Eastern identity, free from ideological stagnation and mental enslavement. His poetry, infused with deep allegory and symbolism, serves as a guiding light for self-awareness, unity, and intellectual emancipation. Iqbal employs diverse poetic forms, including quatrains, ghazals, and lyrical compositions, to articulate his thoughts on philosophy, civilization, and spirituality. A significant element of his vision is his engagement with nature, which he sees as a repository of wisdom. For him, natural elements—birds, trees, rivers—are not just aesthetic motifs but profound symbols carrying metaphysical truths. His poetry transforms nature into a reflective medium through which humanity can gain deeper insights into existence and its purpose. Beyond his engagement with nature, Iqbal critiques both Eastern and Western philosophical traditions. While acknowledging the scientific progress of the West, he condemns its materialism and spiritual emptiness. He challenges the ideologies of Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Vladimir Lenin, arguing that their philosophies have fostered division, greed, and moral decline. Conversely, he praises Johann Wolfgang von Goethe for his intellectual synthesis of poetry and philosophy. Iqbal’s poetic mission is a passionate call for unity, self-reform, and an enlightened society built on love, faith, and knowledge. "Payam-e-Mashriq" remains a timeless masterpiece, offering a vision that transcends geographical and historical boundaries, inspiring generations to seek wisdom, justice, and self-discovery.
