Abstract

After the war of independence of 1857, the person who started his efforts to bring the Muslims out of decline is Sir Ahmad Khan. He saw the decline of the Mughal empire, he was also aware of the ideas and power of the British and he also had an idea of the problems that the Muslims would face in the future. Sir Syed started his reform efforts by trying to popularize education among Muslims. On the basis of his political insight, he believed that now the target of the British would be only the Muslims. In such a situation, the only way for Muslims to survive was education. Although Sir Syed was disagreed with, a personality like Akbar Allahabadi also acknowledged his services. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan not only made reform efforts but also produced people who played an important role in the national life of Muslims. Allama Iqbal is also included among the people who were influenced by him. Allama Iqbal's letters testify to the fact that he was not only influenced by Sir Syed's reform and educational activities, but also recognized the spiritual status of Sir Syed. Sir Syed also emphasized on learning modern sciences and women's education in order for Muslims to move forward side by side with the nations of the world in the national life.
