Abstract

It has been the tradition of oriental languages that the teachings of Holy Quran have been elaborated and discussed in both prose and poetry. Though the Holy Quran was not translated in any other language till early eleven centuries. The early translations of Holy Quran were in poetical form in different languages like Urdu, Persian and Punjabi. The verses of Holy Quran were not the direct subject of these poetical translations. However, the major themes and teachings were described in these poetical works. In Iqbal's poetry we find three different patterns of quoting from Holy Quran. The verses or some parts of verses, the themes of Holy Quran or inference from the themes of Holy Quran. This article describes the detail of all these patterns.
