Abstract

In this essay, an analysis of the translation of Allama Iqbal's english lectures titled "Tafkeer e Deeni par Tajdeed e Nazar" by the Indian translator Dr. Sami ul Haq has been carried out. In opinion of the translator, translations of the lectures carried out until now are not in line with the real objective of the lectures. Especially the translation of Syed Nazir Niazi, which is considered most authentic among the translations, fails to communicate the basic objective of the lectures.In the article under consideration, it has been inquired whether the translation of Dr Sami ul Haq itself has been successful in delivery of this objective or not. It is opined by the writer of this essay that the translation of Dr Sami ul Haq is also the same as the other translations. It has also failed to reach the standard claimed by the translator and could not elucidate each and every detail.
